Phoenix is one hell of a hot town, and I don't mean just the climate, which is, however, Superb. When most of the country is frozen over, here the skies are blue and even the winter temperatures are in the range of the seventies.
Nor is the word 'town' right, even though some may remember when it was little more than a cow town. Today, Arizona's capitol city and surrounding metropolitan area has a population of over one million. The large Gay community, both male and female, is friendly attractive, and not the least bit shy!
Arizona bars are open seven days a week, but close at one AM., earlier than most states, so get to it. Unless you are an avid hitch-hiker, you will also need a car or bike, as Phoenix is spread out nearly as much as Los Angeles. Taxis are not that readily available.
hours on weekends from one until three A.M. Many humpy numbers at the Forum, which features a popular Sunday afternoon buffet. Talk of the Town is almost strictly for the ladies, both foxy and otherwise. Another, Miss Matty's Attic is too new and mixed to hazard a guess as to which way it will go.
The 'top' cruise Bars are the Connection at 4211 N. 7th St. which gets a levi and western crowd and the Nu-Town Saloon at 5002 E. Van Buren, slightly more collegiate as it is not too far from Arizona State University in Tempe. The Nu-Town features a patio buffet on Sundays, and Monday night 'Beer Bust'. The Connection has the 'hottest' rest rooms in Arizona, but you won't get any rest; believe you me! 'Bikers' hang out at the Ramrod, 394 N. Black Canyon Road and the 307 Lounge gets it on with an older, but very available clientelle.

1517 S. Black Canyon Road was the first of the great CBC Chain to move west of Missouri or Texas.
Also high on the list of fun and game places is Swim & Sea Athletic Club for men. This can make a hot afternoon even hotter. It is private, and located at the Desert Pool Motel, 2922 E. Van Buren, so inquire there as to admission. Another place to stay is the Erotic Motel and Book Store, right next to the NuTown Saloon.
There are numerous book stores and various cruisy areas. Some are quite active and some are dangerous. See your copy of the ADDRESS BOOK for more complete details, or pick up a copy of A.G.N., Arizona's popular weekly gay newspaper. Unfortunately, there are virtually no 'all-gay dinner houses, but Denny's (as so often happens) at 5000 N. 7th St. 'picks up' a lot of the action after hours. Among the better straight restaurants in the area are Asia House, Beef Eaters, Chez Louis, Camelback Inn, El Chorro, Etienne, Saddleback Inn, Lulu Belles,
Top discotheques are His Co. Disco at 3839 N. 16th Street, The Forum, 4132 E. McDowell Rd. and Talk of the Town, 3701 N. 16th. St. His Co. Disco gets a Popular Show Bars are somewhat Unisex crowd, has a Diamond Lil's at 3205 N. 24th. large game room with pool St. and the Casa de Roma at tables and is packed for after 4331 N. 16th St. Also, for the Maximilian's, Stockyards &
Homophobic puritans are forever suggesting a myraid of avenues for gays to consider as we search for new and exciting areas of sexual experimentation. One of the more novel ones is suggested by an old favorite, Anita Bryant.
An interview in the Wittenburg
Door, a magazine for youth workers in churches, contained
these seminal revelations: Ms. Bryant was asked, "What is the church's role in relation to the homosexual? Is it one of pointing out what they are doing wrong or does it have to do with healing and forgiving?" Bryant responded, "Absolutely. I have a dream of setting up centers across the country, because an awful lot of people have been turned off by the church. I mean the word homosexual hasn't even been heard in the church-homosexuality has been a taboo. Homosexuality being brought out into the open is a good thing, because it has given Christians an opportunity in love to share that there is hope for the homosexual. Really what homosexuals are searching for is just to be needed and wanted and loved. But unfortunately this need manifests itself into lust

ever open these centers which God is directing us to do, I feel that the burden on my heart which he put there will be lifted."
When asked how she felt about the oppression that gays must endure she said, "Homosexuality is a matter of conduct. It has nothing to do with civil rights. If you give special privileges to the homosexuals, then next come the prostitutes, and what about someone whose sexual preference or affectional preference is for sex with a German shepherd? See, where does it end? it never ends." MCC-AKRON NEWS

Last month's Valentine's Party at the American Disco proved to be one of the most successful events within the past several months. Our next event will be the Saturday Night at the Movies with MCC at the Civic Theatre, here in Akron, featuring Cabaret with Liza Minelli. This should be a very camp event with many enjoyable moments for all of us. The next Thursday evening beginning at 9 P.M. will be the St. Patrick's Eve Party at the Stagecoach...donation is $1.00 at the door for another fun night She continued: "Now if we with lots of festivities and
